Training

Totally Inclusive People deliver training sessions for anyone who works with, or anticipates working with people with learning disabilities (Self-Advocates). The training is co-delivered alongside Self-Advocates who will bring their experience of accessibility issues. The aim is not simply to provide ‘tick box’ training, but for learners to gain a real insight into some of the challenges faced by Self-Advocates and how they can be minimised. Learners will get first-hand experience of understanding different communication styles.

Looking at the social history of disability as well as current equality agendas, learners will explore stereotypes, language and terminology, barriers to communication. We can also include a session on multisensory engagement. We can make our training reflect your working environment, so please get in touch if you’d like more information.

Another standout was the final session from Totally Inclusive People. It had a bit of everything – fun, silliness, science and a real sense of warmth and inclusion. Plus the ideas for engaging all five senses were great.

Vicky is a wonderful practitioner – her compassion, intelligence and direct approach are a winning combination – not to mention her GSOH!

Helpful to hear opinions from individuals with learning disabilities rather than on their behalf.
